What to do after you request emergency roadside assistance

Move your car away from traffic
If you can get your car moving, find a breakdown bay to park in or move your vehicle as far to the left side of the road as you can.
Make sure you’re in a safe position
If you’re staying in your car, keep your seatbelt on. If you’re outside the car, keep away from the road and always stay behind the roadside barrier.
Turn on your lights
Let other motorists know that you’re experiencing a breakdown by turning on your hazard and parking lights.
Don’t try to fix your vehicle
Help is on the way. Sit tight and wait for an RACQ patrol or tow truck to arrive. We know how to conduct fast, safe repairs.
