The Club has launched its biennial Red Spot Congestion Survey and wants motorists to identify congestion hotspots in a bid to help get them fixed.

RACQ Traffic and Safety Engineering Manager Gregory Miszkowycz said the survey results would be provided to authorities to prioritise and lobby for infrastructure improvements.

“We’re asking members to help us drive change in their community by pinpointing the roads, intersections and railway crossings that build up with traffic and cause delays, but could be alleviated to some extent,” Mr Miszkowycz said.

“Whether it’s poor signal timing and coordination, not enough lanes, traffic blocking turning vehicles, long boom gate wait times or other congestion issues, RACQ wants to hear about it.

“We all know how precious time is and lost time sitting in traffic impacts our productivity but by taking part in the survey, you could make your daily commute quicker and help get traffic flowing.”

Mr Miszkowycz said in 2021 the Club received almost 2,000 responses to the survey, identifying 403 congested roads across the state.

“The major highways and arterials were the most nominated last time we put the call out to motorists, with 165 respondents pinpointing the Bruce Highway as the cause of serious frustration,” Mr Miszkowycz explained.

“Second on the list was the Centenary Motorway, in particular from the Ipswich Motorway merge to Toowong and the Logan Motorway interchange. The Pacific Motorway also received plenty of responses.

“Many of the roads that were called out in the 2021 survey have received funding for further upgrades, so having your say could really make a difference.”

Queenslanders have until 5 April 2023 to complete the survey at https://www.racq.com.au/redspot.
