RACQ Foundation volunteers bringing smiles to North Burnett
RACQ Foundation’s Bridgette Muller said 30 volunteers spent a week in Mt Perry and Eidsvold during October to help 16 community organisations doing it tough in the drought affected region.
“We know how important community organisations are to regional Queensland towns, and when they’re struggling, the whole community suffers,” Ms Muller said.
“We’re excited to have been in North Burnett, lending a hand to as many organisations as we can to help this beautiful region that has been impacted by drought for many years.
“Mechanical and non-mechanical RACQ staff volunteers as well as trades from some of our partners worked with community groups including show societies, museums and men’s sheds throughout the week.
“We also brought in some donated cricket equipment which will be distributed to local clubs and schools in the region by the North Burnett Regional Council.”
Ms Muller said the RACQ Foundation Community Assistance Program trip to Mt Perry and Eidsvold was the third trip for the year and the 13th of its kind since the organisation launched in 2011.
“We know there are more towns across Queensland which could use a hand and we’re looking forward to getting out to other communities and sharing a cuppa or two with the locals in the future,” she said.
RACQ Foundation’s current round of community grants close on 22 October 2021, with more information available on its website.
