BrisAsia Festival a celebration of culture
BrisAsia Festival returns from 1-19 February with a stellar line-up of events to celebrate Lunar New Year and Brisbane’s rich Asian cultural heritage.
Featuring 27 unique experiences across 12 suburbs, BrisAsia Festival brings together over 400 artists and creatives who have shaped the most expansive and culturally rich program to date.
From Lunar New Year parties and celebrations to exhibitions, live music and dance events, workshops, comedy, and culinary experiences, the festival is the perfect place to connect and celebrate Brisbane’s evolving cultural story.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the festival played a pivotal role in being Brisbane's hub for cultural connection, creative innovation and performance.
“Each year BrisAsia Festival gets better with new experiences on offer and some festival favourites returning,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Residents can look forward to a jam-packed three weeks of festivities across the city.”
You can kickstart your festival experience with the BrisAsia Launch Party at the Fortitude Music Hall.
This spectacular event will feature traditional and contemporary performances, lion dancers and martial arts displays, Sydney-based KPOP DJ Nick Kim, local drag sensation Crimson Coco and much more.
New festival experiences for 2023 include Soul Gazing: A Journey through the Cosmic Skydome at the Mt Coot-tha Observatory, a new esports competition with the inaugural Team Bliss Community Cup and the BrisAsia Pop-Up Exhibition: Youth with You.
The hip hop, luxury car and Asian food truck event Southside by Night is back after its breakout success in 2022 featuring internationally renowned DJ Kuya, JDMs, Supercars, Euros and more, as well as dedicated tea festival the LanewayParTEA happening in the city.
The digital food documentary Mother’s Table is back and this year you can meet the restaurateurs and taste their sensational food.
Valentine’s Day concert BrisAsia Love Songs returns to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and the cutting-edge creative residency BrisAsia LIVE 2023 will feature
internationally renowned Mongolian musician Bukhu.
BrisAsia Festival Producer Dr Anthony Garcia encouraged people to experience what the festival had to offer.
“BrisAsia Festival shares unique cultural stories through a mix of live performance, digital programming, discussion forums, outdoor family events and ritual cultural festivities all aligned to celebrate the Lunar New Year,” he said.
“The depth and breadth of traditional and contemporary Asian culture, art, cuisine and philosophy on offer is a testament to the diverse peoples who call Brisbane home.”
