Good people doing good things at work and in the community

Beyond his role as an Insurance Investigator at RACQ, Liam Mckinnie spends his time in the community as a State Emergency Services (SES) volunteer.
“I joined in 2023 after hearing about the work they do from a colleague,” he said.
“I’m grateful to be able to help people and make a practical difference on the ground.”
During Tropical Cyclone Alfred, Liam pulled on his orange uniform yet again.
“I was out on the ground before and after the cyclone, helping people prepare their homes and recover in the days following,” he said.
“Before the weather event, I was delivering sandbags and ensuring those who were unable to prepare for themselves had a helping hand.
“During the worst of the severe weather, I was then on the ground doing temporary repairs to roofs and clearing away trees from properties all while avoiding flooded roads.”
When he’s in the office, Liam works as an Investigator analysing insurance claims that have been flagged as potentially fraudulent.
His work plays a vital role in protecting the interests of RACQ members and ensures the Club can continue reinvesting profits back into the community.
“I’ve been at RACQ since February 2022, firstly working in property claims and recently moving into the Counter Fraud and Investigations Unit,” Liam said.
“I really enjoy the analytical challenge that’s required in the investigation process and being able to help protect members against the increasing risk of scams and fraud.”
This is just another example of the good people at RACQ doing good things.
Liam was one of the many permanent RACQ employees to access one day per calendar year of paid community leave specifically to help employees volunteer for a not-for-profit organisation that benefits either the environment, a charity or participating in a community or school-based fundraising event.
