RACQ Mobile Member Centre on the ground in Townsville
As the clean-up begins across parts of North Queensland, RACQ’s Mobile Member Centre has arrived to provide additional face-to-face support for members who have been impacted by flooding in the region.

For many years the purpose-built facility has allowed RACQ to be on the ground during the aftermath of a severe weather event, acting as a dedicated hub for members to lodge their claims directly with claims staff and ask any questions they may have.
RACQ Chief Executive Insurance Trent Sayers said the Mobile Member Centre is located at the Townsville Stadium, alongside our team of claims staff who have been working from the Townsville Insurance Hub this week.
“While it is relieving to see the damage in Townsville is not to the extent of previous events, we know many people in the community and our members have been impacted and supporting them through this recovery is our top priority,” Mr Sayers said.
“This is particularly important for our communities north of Townsville, and as soon as we can gain access to the affected areas our team of assessors and builders will be ready to assist members.”
As at 4pm Thursday 6 February, RACQ had received 386 insurance claims, including 263 for home and 123 for motor.
Mr Sayers said RACQ teams had been scaled up on the phone and online to process claims as quickly as possible.
“We know some residents are yet to return to their homes, and we expect our claims numbers will continue to rise in the coming days,” he said.
“As soon as it is safe, we encourage members to call us on 13 72 02 or visit our website to lodge their claim.
“Our team can then start the process of arranging emergency make-safe work, discussing any temporary accommodation needs and providing cash payments for emergency purchases.”

Where: Townsville Sports Stadium, Stuart Drive Annandale
Opening hours: 9am – 4pm daily
Preparing your claim:
If you can safely return to your home:
- Making notes and taking photos of your belongings will make it easier to submit any claims.
- It’s OK to throw away all spoiled food in your refrigerator- you don’t need to wait for an assessor to visit your home. Take a picture.
- Keep a record of model numbers or serial numbers of items you are throwing away to help us replace them.
- It’s OK to remove material and fabrics such as carpets if they are wet to avoid mould growing. Take a photo to help with replacement.
- Make a list of essentials you will need to replace, such as bedding, clothing and food. Keep all receipts from these purchases.
- Remember safety is the number one priority.
