The President’s perspective.

Winter 2024
by Leona Murphy, RACQ President
Our club has a proud 119-year history founded on assisting members with their mobility, and the RACQ Mobility Centre is taking our purpose ‘to drive a positive future for all Queenslanders’ to another level.

Since RACQ took over ownership of the Mount Cotton facility in 2019, and after extensive renovations, the Mobility Centre has evolved into a versatile space with endless opportunities.

It’s home to six driver training facilities and three driving courses including defensive driving, off-road four-wheel driving, as well as caravan and trailer towing. Through our practical courses and outstanding trainers, members are equipped with the tools they need to become better and safer road users.

Whether you’re an individual looking for a course or a business wanting to book a conference or events space, the RACQ Mobility Centre is the ideal location.

The centre is key in helping us deliver on our 2032 vision: ‘To be a trusted partner for our members providing solutions to move and live safely, securely and sustainably’.

This vision is supported by a strategy that focuses on developing partnerships between the Mobility Centre and organisations that share our ambition for a safer and more sustainable future.

These partnerships encompass various initiatives including training programs with emergency services, activations to educate members about electric vehicles and testing of intelligent and sustainable transport services such as autonomous vehicles and hydrogen-powered trucks.

Through these partnerships we strengthen our collective ability to shape a safer and more sustainable mobility landscape for Queenslanders.

As RACQ President, I’m proud to see how the Mobility Centre plays an integral role in delivering on our vision and purpose. You can read more about our Mobility Centre and its offerings on pages 26–27.

As we look towards the future, the Mobility Centre will transform into more than just a training facility.

The space has been designed to be dynamic and will continue evolving with the changing needs of our members and the broader community. We will continue to increase our investment in the facility as part of our overall mobility strategy, providing research and development opportunities, driver education and road safety.

The RACQ Mobility Centre is not just a testament to our past achievements but also a promise of our continued commitment to making Queensland’s roads safer, smarter and more sustainable for generations to come.

I’m looking forward to working with all our stakeholders to shape the future of mobility in Queensland.
