RACQ welcomes extended government funding to LifeFlight’s aeromedical rescue services
As RACQ and LifeFlight celebrate 30 years of helping Queenslanders, the Club has welcomed the Queensland Government’s $586 million commitment to LifeFlight Australia.
This funding commitment is in addition to a promised $18.3 million to fund a new hangar at the Sunshine Coast Airport.
Chief Executive Officer David Carter said the announcement dedicates vital funding to the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical services and ensures equal access to emergency medical care for all Queenslanders.
“The aeromedical services LifeFlight provides are vitally important across rural, regional and remote Queensland and RACQ is proud to support the delivery of this service to Queenslanders,” Mr Carter said.
“This commitment provides the necessary funding to ensure LifeFlight can continue to deliver life-saving aeromedical care to more than 6,000 people each year.”
This July, RACQ and LifeFlight will celebrate a successful 30-year partnership. Since 1993, the two organisations have shared a vision and commitment to help Queenslanders in times of need by ensuring access to the very best medical service.
“RACQ remains just as proud today as we were all those years ago to have our brand associated with such a purpose-driven cause which makes a vital difference to the lives of many Queenslanders,” Mr Carter said.
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue operates with an advanced fleet of rescue helicopters and air ambulance jets, to provide Queenslanders with the assurance that emergency medical care is available 24/7, 365 days a year.
