What you need to know about new car safety features
Safety features should be high on your list of requirements when shopping for a car.
It is important that any vehicle you choose offers you maximum protection from injury in a crash. It should also offer protection to other road users. Safety features you should look for at a minimum include:
- A full set of airbags
- Anti-lock brakes
- Traction and stability control.
New car safety ratings
The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) involves crash testing new vehicles to compare the level of protection provided in front and side collisions. ANCAP is supported by all Australian and New Zealand motoring clubs and transport authorities.
